Word-filled Wednesday - Hawk

Doth the hawk fly by thy wisdom,

and stretch her wings toward the south?

~ Job 39:26

At our park outing last Friday, we spotted a hawk flying overhead and then a crow chasing after the hawk. Later I found this interesting verse about the hawk.

Show & Tell - Peacocks

Welcome to this week's Show & Tell. One of the first things people notice in our home is the white peacock in the painting above our living room mantle. Peacocks seem to pervade our house, though we hadn't planned it that way.

A colorful peacock decorates an oriental fan on our stairway leading to the second floor, while this brass version adorns the dining room wall.

We had purchased the white and brass peacocks from Steinhafel's furniture store over a decade ago, and we received the fan as a gift from my hubby's brother. While some ladies creatively change their pictures to match the seasons, my artwork tends to stay put until we move, which we don't plan on doing anytime soon.

Though I don't spend a lot of time or money decorating, it is a joyful part of home ownership and something we'll treasure for years to come.

Word-filled Wednesday - Easter

And he saith unto them, Be not affrighted:

Ye seek Jesus of Nazareth, which was crucified:

he is risen; he is not here:

behold the place where they laid him.

~ Mark 16:6

He Is Risen!

He is not here: for he is risen, as he said.
Come, see the place where the Lord lay.
~ Matthew 28:6

Wishing you all a Happy Easter with your family and friends. May we rejoice in the resurrection of our Lord, who conquered sin and death so that we can have eternal life knowing Him.

Heart of the Matter Magazine - April 2009

The April 2009 edition of Heart of the Matter magazine is now available here. We submitted a few funny stories and drawings and were delighted to see them published in the magazine. I also wrote a blog post on our ladies' Bible study, which will be published at Heart of the Matter Online on April 13. Heart of the Matter is a wonderful free resource for homeschoolers and non-homeschoolers alike. See you over there!

Show & Tell - Haircut

For this week’s Show & Tell, I’m posting a few pictures of my recent haircut. Since I hadn’t darkened the doors of a hair salon since last September, it was definitely time for a change. Here’s a before picture, showing how long my hair had grown in six month’s time.

And here’s a photo after my hairdresser gave me an inverted bob.

Seeing this haircut from the side gives a better view of the inversion, shorter in back and longer in front.

My boys get used to seeing me a certain way and think I look weird after a haircut. They even found a Lego mini-figure that they call Mom.

The day after, though, Mom's hair looks normal to the boys and life can proceed as usual.
