This past week the boys and I tackled a three-day garage sale, from Thursday to Saturday. We set up tables on Wednesday and pulled our plastic bins from the basement. Many items were already priced from prior years, but we found new clothes and toys to sell this year. In addition, two friends brought items over for our garage sale, so our garage was packed with tables, clothes racks, and boxes.
While setting up on Wednesday, we had our first customer. We got a couple sales before our official opening on Thursday morning. Traffic was fairly steady all three days, despite the rain on opening day. Saturday was our biggest sale day, with a huge deluge of customers at mid-morning. With six garage sales on our street, cars were parked at every available spot while customers walked from house to house.
After things slowed down on Saturday afternoon, we packed up the leftover items and placed them in bins for next year’s sale. I wrote an article on garage sale tips and tricks for Heart of the Matter, which will post on May 26th.
